System General
ACTiVATE Payroll has been developed using state of the art Windows development tools and 4GL programming techniques. The package embodies a database management system which ensures integrity, efficient and rapid delivery of new features.
ACTiVATE payroll is a robust, well tested package which is capable of growing in a structured, stable manner as new features become required and new operating systems are encountered.
The following points are of particular significance:
Client Server Ready
The system can run in either single user, multi user or client
server mode.
The package is a proper implementation. It is not a file server
system. This leads to greatly improved data integrity and reduced support
requirements over file server systems
Platform Independence
ACTiVATE Payroll is developed in a platform independent language and currently runs on the following operating systems:
Windows 9x, Windows NT and Macintosh
Data Integrity
ACTiVATE Payroll has improved data integrity over traditional "open file" systems because all data is stored and managed within a single datafile, regardless of how many tables are within the application
Professional Backup Security
In a client-server environment, an optional backup module is available which provides automatic discrete backup with intermediate log file. This means that a continuous backup is maintained and a restore can be carried out to a specified date and time since the last backup
Payroll General
Hourly or Salaried payrolls - Weekly, fortnightly & Monthly pay periods
Multiple payrolls/ pay frequencies within the same datafile
Individually password protected payrolls
Current Tax/NI rates included and automatically loaded from disk on program launch
Unlimited departments
Unlimited user definable additions & deductions - pre/post tax
Addition/ Deduction types include Reducing balance (e.g. loan repayments), voluntary pension, taxable/non-taxable
Transactional pay package for importing transactional pay elements
Global pay changes by percentage with the facility to show projections of the effect of the changes

Employee P11 histories maintained throughout year
All tax codes supported-BR, NT, K, Prefix F, etc., Week 1 & Month 1....NI contracted In/Out
Global tax code updating (e.g. increase all suffix "L" codes by 20)
User definable employee pay methods for reporting purposes

A separate, optional backup module provides for an industrial strength backup policy for your data. Features include...
Automatic discrete backups (e.g. midnight backups etc.)
Automatic log file, providing a continuous and transparent record between full backups. (This means that if the system is damaged at 10.00 am on a Wednesday but the last backup was on Monday, the Monday backup can be restored and the program will then re-write all the modifications to the data file up to 09.55 am on Wednesday)
Server mirroring - an identical system running on a separate computer but mirroring every action on the primary system
